Since his further studies in Italy in 1990, he has become familiar with older baroque music and other early wind instruments. He is a founding member of the successful Oliphant ensemble, founded in 1996. Oliphant was Finland's first professional ensemble specialising in medieval music. It has performed regularly in Finnish concert series and festivals, has toured Sweden, France, Italy and Poland, and has recorded four albums for Alba Records to great critical acclaim (Lauluja Ristiretkiltä (2000) and Gace Brule (2004) were chosen as Helsingin Sanomat's albums of the year). He has been a regular member of the Ensemble Fioretto, led by Debra Gomez-Tapio, whose repertoire ranges from the Middle Ages to early Baroque, and has been performing regularly since 1997. In 2011, with percussionist Mikael Heikkilä, he founded the All boys! -duo, which aims to expand the performance practice of classical music through improvisation and other means, with a focus on the medieval period.
