I Fortunati builds its musical landscape with the power of duos. The two singers and the two keyboard players of the continuo carry the listener between tensions and flows with clarity and expressiveness. The secular and spiritual music of the composer Giovanni Felice Sances (1600–1679), who plays a central role in the programme, creates contrasts and connecting lines to portray different aspects of human life. The improvisations of the theorbo and baroque guitar take each other's measure and in the next moment merge into a harmonious tapestry that frames the songs' emotive stories.
