Free Fantasia
According to Wikipedia, the Free Fantasias embody Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714–1788) at his most characteristic: they are full of dramatic silences, harmonic surprises and ever-changing figuration. The fantasias in the Für Kenner und Liebhaber collection are perhaps the best known of C.P.E. Bach's works, but this concert will feature fantasias from outside the published collections. The concert will also feature J.S. Bach's (1685–1750) Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue in D minor. Bach Senior's (J.S.) Chromatic Fantasy was once considered the forerunner of the piano chord fantasias, and this concert will feature a version by Bach Junior (C.P.E.). In addition to the piano works, there is a fantasia with the additional title of "Carl Philip Emmanuel Bach's Feelings".
