Arcangelo Corelli was a pioneer of Baroque music, developing both the sonata form and violin technique. His compositions contain rich melody and harmonic progressions, demonstrating highly skilled use of counterpoint.

The BRQ Vantaa Ensemble is a leading international early music ensemble that gathers annually in Vantaa to perform the finest of Baroque music during the BRQ Vantaa Festival. This year's festival will feature music from Arcangelo Corelli's works opuses 1-5 in the first concert by the BRQ Vantaa Ensemble.

Among the sonatas and trio sonatas to be performed at the concert, the most famous is likely "La Follia" for violin and basso continuo no. 12 Op. 5, whose virtuosic variations and poignant melodies have touched people for centuries.
