The first concert on Friday evening takes listeners deep into the soul of English Baroque. The concert showcases the timeless compositions of Henry Purcell and Matthew Locke, which have maintained their enchantment over the centuries.
The concert program includes Purcell's beloved pieces "Music for a while" and "If music be the food of love," as well as the heart-wrenching song "Dido’s Lament" from the opera Dido and Aeneas. From Matthew Locke, the audience will hear the G minor suite from the collection Consort of Four Parts and the stunningly beautiful Flat Suite for my Cousin Kemble.
The performers at the concert are top experts in Baroque music, whose passion and expertise bring these historic melodies vividly into the present. The concert will surely speak to both fans of Baroque music and newcomers alike.
