TUESDAY 13.8.2024 18:30 - 19:30
The Church of St Lawrence Reittiopas
Juuli Holma baroque cello
Louna Hosia baroque cello
Petteri Pitko harpsichord

Helsingestiftelsen's Young Instrumentalist of the Year, baroque cellist Juuli Holma, showcases her love for French culture and language in her "Élégance" concert. Through the music of François Couperin, we glimpse into the heart of French elegance, the Palace of Versailles, where Couperin served in a very high court position during the reign of Louis XV. The music of Jean-Baptiste Barrière, a cellist virtuoso and composer from the first half of the 18th century, is both technically and emotionally rich. The program also includes an Italian piece, Sonata No. 4 by Francesco Geminiani, which amuses with its seemingly French influences.

Juuli Holma has studied both baroque and modern cello extensively at the Sibelius Academy, Novia University of Applied Sciences, and on numerous courses around the world. She is a very active chamber musician, the lead cello of the Lapland Chamber Orchestra, an educator, and the founder of the music and gastronomy festival Soinillisen Festival in Soini.
