Laurent Stewart started playing the harpsichord at the age of 12 and at 15, he entered the Conservatory of Verona, Italy. Having returned to France, he continued his studies at the Conservatory of Lille where he was awarded many first prizes. Parallel to the harpsichord, he studied organ with Jean Boyer and completed his studies with Jos Van Immerseel at the Antwerp Conservatory being awarded with the highest qualifications.
Laurent Stewart has been a guest at multiple European festivals, such as La Roque d’Anthéron, Flanders Festival, Brussels Philharmonic, Villa Medici, Festival de Saintes, Abbey Lessay, Bozar Festival, Music of Brussels, Utrecht Early Music Festival, and many others.
He has played and recorded with many ensembles such as Clement Janequin, Le Concert Spirituel, Il Seminario Musicale, La Fenice, Anima Æterna, Ricercar Consort, La Grande Ecurie et la Chambre du Roy, Les Traversées baroques etc. and plays both in France and abroad.
During the last few years, he has recorded several solo albums with the music of Orlando Gibbons, William Byrd, Louis Couperin, Louis Marchand, Frescobaldi and d’Anglebert. Unanimously praised by critics, all of them have been granted with the highest acclaim and awarded prizes.
