Anssi Koskela
Anssi Koskela is a violinist and singer from Espoo, whose musicianship is characterized by a curious and investigative approach, honesty, playfulness, and a desire to move his audience.
His educational journey took him from the Espoo Music Institute to the Sibelius Academy, where his studies in modern violin led to a Master of Music degree. In 2022, Anssi graduated as a baroque violinist from the Novia University of Applied Sciences, and in the summer of 2024, he completed his studies as a baroque singer under Kajsa Dahlbäck. Other mentors throughout his studies included Marja Inkinen, Grazyna Gebert, Lara Lev, Antti Tikkanen, Pekka Kauppinen, Aira Maria Lehtipuu, and Aki Alamikkotervo.
Professionally, Anssi has performed on the modern violin with the Tapiola Sinfonietta, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, the Kymi Sinfonietta, and the orchestra of the Finnish National Opera. In the realm of early music, he has appeared in concerts with Espoo Baroque, the Finnish Baroque Orchestra, and the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra. As a singer, Anssi made his debut last autumn in Joseph Martin Kraus's opera Proserpin, produced by Vaasa Baroque. He is the artistic director of the Kuninkaantammi Music Days, which began in June 2024.
In his free time, Anssi enjoys outdoor activities and trying out various forms of exercise. His discovery last winter was winter swimming, and this summer, he has been enjoying dips in the new Palettilampi pond in Kuninkaantammi.
