At the end of her cello studies she got an opportunity to start viol studies and became fast enthusiastic with the instrument. Apart from concentrating on bass viol, she plays the smallest of the viol family, pardessus de viole. Lampela has performed with numerous early music groups and orchestras and in festivals such as Suvisoitto in Porvoo, Janakkalan barokki, Sastamala Gregoriana and Kajaanin Barokki soi. She has also played viol with the Finnish Baroque Orchestra, Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, Sinfonia Lahti, Kymi Sinfonietta and Pori Sinfonietta. Her long-term ensembles are Trio Barocco and Viol Ensemble Jouhi. When not engaged in playing, she studies the tropical peatlands of South East Asia.
